Sara-Mae Dafoe is an independent artist from Calgary, Alberta. Difficult to place in one particular genre, her music is a blend of folk, gospel, and pop interwoven with traces of blues, classical and country. Her love of music began at a very young age, and her experiences as a worship leader and elementary school music teacher have influenced her as a writer and performer.
Sara-Mae recently released her first album, “Flourish” in May of 2017. “Flourish” is a collection of real-life reflections that are deeply personal, yet somehow universal as Sara-Mae tackles themes of loss, depression, pain, faith, and ultimately hope in her lyrics. Her voice has been described as sweet, pure, and soothing over an expertly produced tapestry of piano and many rich threads of instrumentation.
As a performer, Sara-Mae has a warmth and openness that instantly sets the audience at ease and reassures them that they are seeing who she really is. Her shows have been described as genuine, authentic, and refreshing. Sara-Mae weaves stories, songs, and her signature quirky sense of humour into each performance.
